The Creighton Softball coaching staff would like to invite you to our 2013 Spring Advanced Pitching Camp. This camp will provide an opportunity for players of all ages to learn and develop their skills under the personal attention of the Bluejay Softball Coaching Staff. Fundamentals will be emphasized through individual and group instruction combined with drill work to help each player improve upon existing skills in order to become the best she can be.
Advanced Pitching Camp - $350
Mondays, February
18th-May 6th (10 weeks)
*Camp will not be held on March 11 because the CU Softball team will be in Florida or on April 15 due to the NCAA mandated Dead Period.
Session 1 6:00 pm-7:00 pm
Session 2 7:00 pm-8:00 pm
*Each camper only registers
for 1 session on Mondays
Instruction will focus on teaching proper method of warm-up and mechanical fundamentals. Emphasis will be placed on correct delivery, grips, and spins for all pitches. Additionally, the mental aspects of pitching including game approach, count progression, batter approaches, and work ethic will be addressed.
Camp InstructorAbby Johnson - Creighton Softball Assistant Coach
Abby Johnson, an Omaha native, is in her eighth year as an assistant coach after a prolific career as a Bluejay. Johnson was a four year starter at pitcher, first base and designated hitter receiving All-MVC honors each year, and was named to the MVC All-Centennial Team in 2007. The 2004 Women's Major All-American and 2005 MVC Player of the Year is found in numerous offensive and pitching categories in the CU record books. She works primarily with pitchers, catchers, and outfielders.
General Information
FACILITIES: Creighton's indoor hitting facility located in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion adjacent to the baseball and softball fields will be the site of the pitching camps.
HEALTH CARE: All campers must carry their own insurance. Creighton Softball Camp and Creighton University cannot be responsible for injuries sustained at the camp.
REGISTRATION: All campers must have a registration, parental consent form with insurance information, and payment on file prior to participating. Registration will take place in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion for pitching camps.
**Please reserve your spot via mail, phone or e-mail as soon as possible due to restricted space available. Only 4 available spots per hourly session and reservations will be on a first come, first serve basis.
**Please note: Due to time constraints and NCAA regulations, there will be no make-up date for a missed class and no discounts or refunds available.

Creighton Softball Winter Instructional Camp
Creighton softball will host its biannual instructional clinic the weekend following Christmas. The dates for this year's Creighton Softball Winter Instructional Camp will be December 29th - January 1st.
There are seven different sessions available for players ages 8-and-up that will cover every area of the game from defensive fundamentals and advanced positional play, to base running, pitching, hitting, and advanced hitting techniques.
Each individual session will be instructed by the Creighton Softball coaching staff and assisted by members of the 2013 Creighton Softball Team. All hitting clinics will be held in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion which houses the indoor batting cages for the CU Softball and Baseball teams located directly next to the CU Sports Complex.
All of the defensive and pitching clinics this year will be held in the Rasmussen Center, which is the brand new, multi-million dollar indoor facility next to Morrison Stadium and the Ryan Center and DJ Sokol Arena. The breakdown for each day of camp is as follows:
December 29th
**Due to space availability, this session will combine the younger and older age groups. However, specifics for each of the beginning and advanced groups will be addressed and drill work will be adjusted and tailored to each experience level to provide an educational and challenging clinic for each camper.
December 30th
9:00-11:30 am - Jr. Jays Hitting
1:00-3:30 pm - Jr. Jays Defensive Fundamentals
December 31st
9:00-11:30 am - Sr. Jays Hitting 1- Hitting Fundamentals
1:00-3:30 pm - Sr. Jays Hitting 2- Slapping/Short Game for Lefty Slappers and Stand Still Hitters
January 1st
9:00-11:30 am - Sr. Jays Defense 1 - Defensive Fundamentals and Base Running
1:00-3:30 pm - Sr. Jays Defensive 2- Positional Play
The fee for each session is $50 per camper, which includes the cost of instruction as well as a camp t-shirt (one per camper for the week).

Advanced Pitching Camp Overview
The Creighton Softball coaching staff would like to invite you to our 2012 Advanced Pitching Camp. This camp will provide an opportunity for players of all ages to learn and develop their skills under the personal attention of the Bluejay Softball Coaching Staff. Fundamentals will be emphasized through individual and group instruction combined with drill work to help each player improve upon existing skills in order to become the best she can be.
FACILITIES: Creighton’s indoor hitting facility located in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion adjacent to the baseball and softball fields will be the site of the pitching camps.
EQUIPMENT: Campers should bring their own glove for the pitching camp along with comfortable workout attire and their own catcher. You can wear tennis shoes in our indoor facilities.
HEALTH CARE: All campers must carry their own insurance. Creighton Softball Camp and Creighton University cannot be responsible for injuries sustained at the camp.

Junior Jays Pitching Camp $55
June 13th 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Instruction will focus on teaching proper method of warm-up and stretch mechanics as well as emphasis on correct delivery and pitching grips. Pitching stations will offer participants the opportunity to improve upon newly acquired skills and information. Campers are required to provide their own catcher.
Junior Jays Hitting Camp $55
June 14th 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Instruction will focus on teaching players the proper swing mechanics to promote bat speed and consistency at the plate. Each player will go through a variety of supervised hitting stations to reinforce concepts being taught. Campers are required to provide their own helmet and bat.
Junior Jays Fundamental Camp $55
June 14th 1 – 3:30 p.m.
Camp includes proper method of warm-up with strong emphasis on throwing and receiving fundamentals. Fielding mechanics, and base running will all be addressed through extensive drill work.
Ages 14 & up
Senior Jays Hitting 1- Fundamentals $55
June 11th 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Instruction will focus on the proper swing mechanics to promote increased bat speed and consistency at the plate. Each player will go through a variety of supervised hitting stations to reinforce concepts being taught. Campers are required to provide their own helmet and bat.
Senior Jays Hitting 2-Slapping/Short Game $55
June 11th 1-3:30 p.m.
Camp includes right and left hand slapping and short game fundamentals. Situational bunting including sacrifice, surprise, triple bunt, and squeeze, and slapping will be taught through drill work, machine work, and live arm. Campers are required to provide their own helmet and bat.
Senior Jays Defense 1- Fundamentals $55
June 12th 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Camp includes proper method of warm-up with strong emphasis on throwing and receiving fundamentals. Fielding mechanics and base running will all be addressed through extensive and more challenging drill work.
Senior Jays Defense 2- Positional Play $55
June 12th 1-3:30 p.m.
Instruction will focus on positional specific techniques. Players will be divided so outfield, infield corner & middle, pitcher, and catcher mechanics can be addressed. In addition, situational instruction will be incorporated.
Senior Jays Pitching Camp $55
June 13th 1 – 3:30 p.m.
Instruction will focus on
teaching proper method of warm-up and stretch mechanics as well as emphasis on
correct delivery and pitching grips. Specific pitches will be addressed
individually. Additionally, the
mental aspects of pitching will be specifically addressed for this age group.
Campers are required to provide their own catcher.
General Information
FACILITIES: Creighton’s indoor hitting facility located in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion adjacent to the baseball and softball fields located on 23rd and Burt will be the site of the hitting camps. The softball field will serve as the site of the fundamental and pitching camps. Lunch will NOT be provided; however, campers can bring their lunch and dine in the Kitty Gaughan Pavilion in between camps.
EQUIPMENT: Campers should bring their own bat and helmet for the hitting camps, and glove for the fundamental and pitching camps along with comfortable workout attire. All pitchers must provide their own catcher for the pitching clinics. You can wear tennis shoes in all of our indoor facilities, and both cleats and tennis shoes are required for all defensive and pitching camps. Water bottles are also recommended for all summer camps.

REFUND POLICY: Notification must be received at least 1 week prior to the first day of camp for 100% refund of the camp registration. A 50% refund will be given for notification received between June 4th-10th. Notification June 10th or after will not be refunded.
