Bluejays earn best ranking in program history
OMAHA, Neb. --Â The Creighton women's basketball team matched its best ranking in the USA Today Coaches Poll in program history when the Bluejays came in at No. 23 in the year-end edition released on Monday, April 4.
It marks just the fifth time in program history that the Bluejays have been ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll, and first time since also being tabbed No. 23 on March 1, 2017. CU previously came in at No. 24 in a pair of polls in 1992, as well as being slotted No. 25 on Feb. 22, 2017.
Creighton finished the 2021-22 season with a 23-10 record and advanced to the program's first Elite Eight thanks to victories over Colorado, Iowa and Iowa State, with the latter two wins being CU's first top 10 victories in program history. Iowa was ranked eighth in the AP poll at the time, while Iowa State was tabbed 10th.
The Associated Press does not issue a year-end poll.
Creighton also gained some recognition looking ahead to next season, as ESPN.com put the Bluejays 24th in their Women's College Basketball Way-Too-Early Top 25 for 2022-23 poll.
