Women's Soccer Falls 3-0 in 2017 Opener at Iowa State

Ames, Iowa -- The Creighton women's soccer team opened the 2017 with a 3-0 loss to Iowa State on Friday, Aug. 18.
Creighton fell to 0-1-0 on the season, while Iowa State is now 1-0-0.
A scoreless first half saw the Cyclones control possession through the first ten minutes of play, but as the half moved forward the momentum moved to the Bluejays. Creighton began to control the ball and were able to fire away for a total of nine first half shots. Holding a 9-7 edge in shots at the break.
The second half, however, saw Iowa State deliver an early goal in the 49th minute and tack on goals in the 73rd and 83rd. The Cyclones first goal came from Brooke Tasker as she sent in a shot after Marin Daniel collected possession off a deflection. Merin Mundt punched in the second goal on a free kick from 25 yards away at the 72:49 mark, while Mundt assisted Carly Langhurst for Iowa State's third goal.
Iowa State outshot Creighton 21-12 in the match, including a 14-3 edge in the second half.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Thursday, Aug. 24 as Creighton heads to Madison, Wis., to face the Wisconsin Badgers at 7:00 pm
