Agnew and Carda Sweep BIG EAST Weekly Awards

New York, N.Y. --  Coming off a double overtime win at Providence on Saturday, the Creighton women's basketball team swept the BIG EAST Weekly awards with sophomore Jaylyn Agnew taking Player of the Week and Temi Carda taking the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday, Feb. 12.
Agnew scored a career-high 33 points while adding 11 boards and four assists at Providence on Saturday. The sophomore scored the game-tying three-pointer to send the contest into a second overtime frame as she made 5-of-8 from deep and 9-of-18 overall on the afternoon. Agnew's 33 are second most by a BIG EAST player this season and the most in a conference game since Feb. 17, 2017, when Adrianna Hahn of Villanova matched that mark. Creighton improved to 5-1 this season in games with extra periods, including 3-0 in games with at least two overtime frames.

Carda repeats as top rookie after scoring 17 points in Saturday's double-overtime win at Providence. The freshman guard shot 50 percent from the field, including 50 percent from beyond the arc, while playing 39 minutes of turnover-free basketball. Carda added a pair of rebounds and an assist, while draining a trio of three-pointers for the second time this season.
Agnew, Carda and the rest of the Bluejays return to the court on Friday, Feb. 16 as Creighton hosts Xavier in the annual Pink Game at 7:00 pm.

In a 2-0 weekend for the Golden Eagles, Blockton averaged 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and .586 shooting, including a 50-percent mark from deep. She notched a double-double of 19 points, 11 boards at Butler on Sunday after going for 23 points, five rebounds and six dimes at Xavier on Friday.
Maddie Jolin, Providence, Jr., G
The junior guard grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, the most by a Friar in seven years, while adding five assists and 50-percent shooting in Saturday's double-overtime tilt against Creighton.
Alex Louin, Villanova, Sr., G
In a 2-0 weekend for the Wildcats, Louin averaged a double-double of 13.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, knocking down 50 percent of her shots. She posted back-to-back double-doubles, including 12 points and a career-high 14 boards in Sunday's win over Seton Hall.
Cynthia Petke, Georgetown, Sr., F
Petke posted back-to-back double-doubles in a 1-1 weekend for the Hoyas, averaging 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 steal. The senior's weekend was highlighted by a 17-point, 14-rebounds, four-steal outing against Seton Hall on Friday.Â
Maya Singleton, St. John's, Sr., F
Singleton posted back-to-back double-doubles to average 15.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and .684 shooting in a 1-1 road weekend for the Red Storm. The senior posted 11 points, 18 rebounds at Villanova on Friday and 19 points, 11 rebounds at Georgetown on Sunday.
