Men's Golf Opens Spring in 13th Place at Jackrabbit Invitational

Trey Petitt ties for 30th to lead CU
BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Senior Trey Petitt tied for 30th to lead the Creighton men's golf team to a 13th place showing at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Saturday. The meet, Creighton's first of the spring, took place at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
Petitt led or tied for CU's best round in all three circuits. He had rounds of 74 and 72 on Friday before closing with a 75 on Saturday for a 221 aggregate.
Senior Charlie Bolton and freshman Nate Vontz both tied for 49th place with 226 totals. Bolton went 74-77-75 while Vontz went 77-74-75 to reach that mark.
Junior Bradley Keyer sandwiched rounds of 77 with a 84 to place 77th at 238, while Koy Potthoff had rounds of 77, 91 and 76 for a 244 finish, good for 84th place.
Sophomore Andrew McCormick tied for 53rd place while playing as an individual. He compiled rounds of 81, 76 and 70 for a 227 total.
UNLV won the 15-team meet with a 35-under par total of 829 (283-283-263) to win the crown by five shots over UCLA. UCLA's Devon Bling won medalist honors in the field of 88 after a 201 total (67-69-65). The course played to a par-72 and measured 7,402 yards.
Creighton returns to the course on March 19-20 at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo.
