Men's Golf Concludes Twin Oaks Intercollegiate With 10th Place Finish

Andrew McCormick tied for 23rd to lead Bluejays
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Sophomore Andrew McCormick shot a team-leading opening round 71 and led the Creighton men's golf team to a 10th place finish at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, with competition concluding on Tuesday at the Twin Oaks Country Club. McCormick, who recorded the top two rounds by a Bluejay, finished with a three-round score of 222 (+9) to lead the team and finish tied for 23rd in the event.
As a team the Bluejays recorded rounds of 298, 302 and 311 for a total of 911 strokes (+59) at the 6,760-yard, par 71 course in Springfield, Missouri. Bradley University finished the three-round event just nine strokes over par with a team total of 861 (280-289-292) to win the meet. SIU Edwardsville and host Missouri State tied for second place at 12-over par (864). Missouri State's Adam Fisher finished at three-under par (72-69-69=210) to capture medalist honors.
McCormick shot even par 71 during the opening round and followed with a second-round 73 to finish Monday's competition tied for 11th at just two over par. His third round of 78 on Tuesday put his final tally at 222.
Freshman Nate Vontz's 76 during the third round was tops among his teammates on Tuesday, as he finished with a three-round total of 229 (75-78-76). Senior Trey Petitt (74-77-80) was three strokes over par in the first round and finished the event tied with junior Bradley Keyer (78-75-78) at 231.
Senior Charlie Bolton rounded out Creighton's contingent (78-77-79=234).
Creighton returns to the links on March 31 at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate hosted by Illinois State in Normal, Ill.
