Andrew McCormick Named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

McCormick shot a 222 (+9) at the Twins Oaks Intercollegiate
NEW YORK – Creighton men's golf sophomore Andrew McCormick has been selected as the BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon. McCormick shot a 222 (+9) in the 54-hole Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo. St. John's Kaitleen Shee was tabbed the BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week after winning the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

McCormick tied for 23rd at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Mo. He shot a three-round score of 222 (+9). His rounds were 71, 73, and 78. McCormick shot even par 71 during the opening round and followed with a second-round 73 to finish Monday's competition tied for 11th at just two over par. His third round of 78 on Tuesday put his final tally at 222. The Bluejays placed 10th.
BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Kaitleen Shee, St. John's, So.
Shee recorded her first collegiate win with a victory at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Va. The sophomore shot a three-round score of 219, which included nine birdies. Shee was steady throughout the tournament, carding rounds of 72, 74 and 73, and winning by three strokes. St. John's placed second in the team standings.

Georgetown's Jacquelyn Eleey carded an even-par 216 to finish in a tie for 10th place at the very strong Briar's Creek Invitational. The 216 is the second-best 54-hole score in Georgetown history, behind Eleey's 213 earlier this year. She recorded a 1-under par 71 over the first 18 holes, and a 2-under par 70 in the second round. This is Eleey's sixth top-10 finish in eight tournaments this season. Her score helped lead the Hoyas to a sixth-place finish among a very strong, 17-team field…Seton Hall's Cassie Pantelas was the team's top finisher at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. The senior tied for third place with a seven-over-par 151 (72-79). It's her sixth top-5 and 12th top 10 finish of her career. The Pirates claimed the team title by eight strokes, placing four golfers in the top 10…Butler's Lauren Tibbets and Abigail Gleixner tied for second individually at the Bulldog Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. Tibbets and Gleixner shot a 36-hole score of 156, which tied Felicia Davenport of Chicago State, but Davenport won the event due to a tiebreaker. Tibbets shot 75 in the first round, tying Davenport for the best round of the day. Butler's women ran away from the field to post a 23-shot win…After two rounds of the ORU/SFA Spring Invite in Trophy Club, Texas, Sydney Gillespie is Creighton's top performer with a two-round score of 157 (+13). She has recorded rounds of 78 and 79.

Butler's Patrick Allgeier finished third individually at the Bulldog Florida Invitational, with two rounds of 76. His score of 152 (+4) was 10 shots shy of winner Tyler Hanson of Albany State. It was Allgeier's second straight top-5 finish this spring. Butler placed third in the 36-hole event. The five-team tournament was played at Windsor Parke Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla…Marquette junior Oliver Farrell went 3-0 at the MacKenzie Matchplay, hosted by the University of San Francisco, as MU finished as the runner-up in match play to Wyoming. Farrell won his opening two matches to help MU to wins over Menlo College (4-and-1) and Cal Poly (3-and-2) before winning in the finals 5-and-4 over Wyoming's Quintin Pope.
For The BIG EAST Golf Championships Presented by Jeep this spring, the conference will return to the Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie S.C. The women's championship will be held April 20-22. The men's championship is April 29-May 1.
