Scouting the Bluejays (2018: 12-6, 0-0 BIG EAST)
Limited to just two games last week, the Bluejays made the most of their doubleheader in Normal with a sweep of Illinois State on Friday, March 23. Creighton, however, won the two games in dramatically different ways. Senior ace Ryan Tapani moved to 4-0 on the season in the opener, limiting the Redbirds to one run on six hits over six innings. The nightcap saw Creighton fight back from a 4-0 deficit. The Bluejay comeback began with two runs in the sixth, followed by four in the seventh and one in the eighth to take the lead.
Creighton is learning how to use its bullpen more effectively as the season continues to move forward, taking two games last weekend in spite of leaving their closer at home with the flu.
Bluejays vs. Nebraska
Creighton trails the series with the Huskers, 91-44-2.
Since Ed Servais took the reigns for the Bluejays, Creighton is 13-28 against the Huskers.
A game-by-game account of the last five seasons is below. During the past five seasons the Bluejays are 3-6 against Nebraska at home.

About Nebraska
Nebraska opened the season strong, taking three of four games in the Husker Classic in Arizona from UC Riverside and Washington State.
The Huskers went on build an early season 9-6 mark, but Nebraska has dropped five of its last nine games. During that stretch the Huskers split two games with
Northern Colorado, Northwestern State and Oral Roberts, then lost two of three in their Big Ten opening series with Minnesota over the weekend.
The struggles for the Huskers have been scoring runs as Nebraska has plated 10 runs in its five losses. Conversely Nebraska scored 40 runs in its four victories.
Tapani Not only Undefeated (4-0), Bluejays are 6-0 in Games He Has Started
Senior Ryan Tapani entered the 2018 season with an opportunity to start, but no one saw this start coming. The right hander from Minnesota has
allowed just eight runs (six earned) this season for a 1.49 ERA in 36.1 innings.
Ryan has opened the 2018 season 4-0, but in his six trips to the bump the Bluejays are a perfect 6-0.
Emodi Leads NCAA in RBI Per Game
Junior Michael Emodi has had an incredible last 10 games. During that stretch he has seven home runs and 18 RBI. Not surprisingly the Bluejays at 7-3 during that stretch.
That stretch has valuted the Bluejay catcher to the NCAA lead in RBI per game with 1.67 this season, while he is 12th in home runs per game at 0.39.
With Emodi Behind the Dish There is Just One Question. Do You Feel Lucky?
As hot as catcher Michael Emodi has been at the plate, his play behind the dish is at least as impressive. The Bluejay backstop has thrown out 11 of 18 men trying to steal this season. So he is cutting down runners better than 60% of the time (61.11% to be exact).
