Bradley Keyer ties for 39th after claiming best score for CU in final two rounds
NORMAL, Ill. -- The Creighton men's golf team took 13th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, which completed on Sunday, April 1st.
The 17-team meet was contested at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill., on a course that measured 6,915 yards and played to a par 71.
Creighton was paced by a tie for 39th place by junior Bradley Keyer. He opened the tournament with an 80 before leading CU in the final two rounds with scores of 73 and 76.
Freshman Nate Vontz tied for 44th place with a 230 (79-74-77) total, one shot better than sophomore Andrew McCormick (79-75-77=231).
Freshman Joe Torkelson tied for 74th place with circuits of 82, 76 and 79, two shots and five places better than senior Charlie Bolton (82-80-77).
Duke won the meet by 15 shots over Wisconsin with rounds of 303, 284 and 284 for a 871 total. Tournament host Illinois State placed third with an 895 aggregate.
Wisconsin's Griffin Barela (74-69-74) tied the Duke duo of Chandler Eaton (74-71-72) and Adam Wood (75-71-71) for medalist honors in the 90-man field.
Creighton returns to the course on April 9-10 at the Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Mo. It will be CU's final tune-up before the BIG EAST Championships on April 29-May 1.
