Men's Tennis Cruises To Senior Day Victory Against Doane

Bluejays honored Brooks Kendall, Alex Koca, Michael Koch and Marko Vukalovic
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 sweep of Doane on Sunday afternoon at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The Bluejays also celebrated the accomplishments of their four seniors: Brooks Kendall, Alex Koca, Michael Koch and Marko Vukalovic.
Creighton improved to 10-9 this season with the victory.
"It was a great day at Koch and a special home finish being able to have each senior earn a point in their final home match," head coach Tom Lilly said.
A pair of sophomores, Mac Mease and Daniel Lopez-Rey, opened the day with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Armando Gandini and senior Brooks Kendall clinched the doubles point for the Bluejays with a 6-2 win at No. 3. Senior Alex Koca and Stratton Brown also claimed a 6-4 victory at the top spot.
During singles action, Creighton won in straight-sets at five of the six positions.
Kendall won 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot and Koca earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 before senior Marko Vukalovic sealed the overall match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 6 position.
Freshmen Jose Oscar Diaz and Joe Hoff each won in straight sets at No. 3 and 5, respectively, while senior Michael Koch capped the perfect sweep with a three-set win at No. 4. Koch won the opening set 6-1 and dropped the second 6-3, but battled back for a 10-4 victory during a 10-point tiebreaker.
Creighton returns to the courts on Friday for the start of the BIG EAST Championships in Cayce, South Carolina.
