Wilcox ranked No. 1 in state of Kansas by the Tennis Recruiting Network
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton women's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of Sarah Wilcox, on Wednesday, April 25, for the 2018-19 season.
Wilcox, a two-time runner-up at the Kansas state meet in Class 6A singles, is rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 1 rated player from the state of Kansas, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. She is also ranked No. 3 in the plain states and No. 95 nationally.
"I am so excited to have Sarah choose Creighton over so many other schools," Lilly said. "She is a very talented player who will make us better the second she steps on campus. She has the potential to be a top player for us and do very well here. Sarah is also a great student, and I believe she will thrive at Creighton."
Wilcox, who will graduate from Shawnee Mission East (Prairie Village, Kansas) this May, placed third at the state meet as a freshman, second during her sophomore and junior seasons, and fourth this past fall. She is also rated a 10 in the Universal Tennis Ratings.Â
"My mom is from Omaha, so it's always felt like a second home, and I can't wait to spend my next four years there as a Bluejay," Wilcox said.
Creighton starts its 2018 postseason run at the BIG EAST Championship in Cayce, South Carolina against Providence on Thursday at 8 a.m. Central.Â
