Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball's Ryan Mantle, Will Robertson and Ryan Tapani collected All-BIG EAST First Team recognition as the conference's postseason honors were announced on Wednesday, May 23.
The Bluejays three members of the All-BIG EAST First Team are Creighton's most since the Bluejays initial season as members of the conference in 2014, when the Bluejays placed four players on the First Team.
Mantle closed his first season as a Bluejay with a .291 average, including 12 doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI. His numbers were even better in BIG EAST play as Creighton's DH led the squad with a .315 average.
Robertson wrapped up a monster season with a league-high 59 RBI in just 50 games. Will smashed 12 home runs and 17 doubles to lead Creighton in both categories. In conference action, Robertson's 15 RBI ranked third, despite playing one fewer game than most in the conference.
The most dynamic player during Creighton's 2018 season was easily Bluejay ace, Ryan Tapani. The Minnesota native collected 10 wins in 14 starts, finishing his Bluejay career tied for the best winning percentage in school history at 13-2 (.867). Ryan tossed 94.1 innings in 2018, collecting 95 strikeouts and an impressive 2.38 ERA. In BIG EAST action, the right-hander was 4-1 in six starts.
