Omaha, Neb. -- Building on a pair of 2-1 victories this week, Creighton's women's soccer claimed the BIG EAST Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, Freshman of the Week and a spot on the Honor Roll. Sophomore Aida Kardovic was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, freshman Maddie Radke was the BIG EAST Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week and junior Ansley Atkinson earned an Honor Roll spot on Monday, April 5.
Kardovic scored two goals and claimed an assist in a 2-0-0 week for the Bluejays. The redshirt-sophomore converted both penalty kick opportunities in victories at Marquette and over DePaul, while totaling five shots in each contest. She also delivered the assist to setup Creighton's golden goal in the Bluejays' 2-1 overtime win at Marquette on Thursday, April 1. Against DePaul on Sunday, Kardovic's penalty kick brought Creighton even at 1-1 early in the second half.
Radke was impactful on both sides of the pitch last week, helping to limit Creighton opponents to just three shots on goal as the Bluejays went 2-0-0 with wins over Marquette and DePaul. Creighton out shot its two foes 36-13, including 18-3 on target, and outscored Marquette and DePaul by a 4-2 margin. Radke added a flair of offense, assisting on Lea Høiness' 69th-minute game winner against DePaul on Sunday.
Atkinson, meanwhile, nabbed a spot on the Honor Roll by scoring the golden goal for Creighton in the 92nd minute at Marquette on April 1.
Atkinson, Kardovic, Radke and the rest of the Bluejays close out the regular season at Butler on Thursday, April 8. The match is set for an 11:00 am kickoff.
