While serving as an assistant coach from 2016-18 at Montclair State, Hurler contributed to opponent scouting, in-game analysis and program operations. With Hurler on staff, the Red Hawks won 60 matches, an NJAC Championship, and made an NCAA DIII Tournament appearance in three seasons.
Hurler worked as a technical coordinator at the U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryouts in February and was later selected to the staff of the 2020 U.S. Collegiate National Team. Previously he was a consultant technical coordinator for the 2019 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup and spent the 2019 summer as a volunteer for the U.S. Women’s National Team and Pan American Cup Team.
In 2018 Hurler was an assistant coach for the GEVA Region’s Youth High Performance team, which captured an international silver medal at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. In 2017 he was a court coach with the GEVA Youth HP team that won the region’s first gold medal. Previously, Hurler coached with Ocean County Volleyball Club in New Jersey for four seasons.
Hurler graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2015 with his degree in Finance and is pursuing a master’s degree in Analytics at Creighton’s Heider College of Business. While at TCNJ he competed on the men’s club volleyball team and helped the team to a first-place finish in the MACVC Northeast Division during the 2013-14 season.
