Micah Rhodes is in his first season at Creighton as Director of Operations after serving the 2016 campaign a volunteer assistant coach with the Bluejays.
Rhodes worked at Nebraska-Omaha during the 2017 and 2018 seasons under legendary head coach Rose Shires. The Mavericks were 17-12 in 2018, which followed a 10-win campaign in 2017.
During Rhodes’ first season at Creighton, the Bluejays tied a program record for wins (29) and reached the Elite Eight. CU won a third consecutive BIG EAST title, becoming the first club to finish league play 18-0.
Rhodes spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Buena Vista from 2012-15, where he worked alongside Lori Slight to help the program turn the corner and work to become a contender in the Iowa Conference. His final team finished 18-16 overall, with Rhodes taking charge during league play after Slight took a leave of absence. He helped coach the program’s first IIAC Most Valuable Player (Maddie Bardole), and also the program’s first All-American (Jade Schaap) during the 2015 campaign.
BVU’s 2014 team won 25 matches, its highest total since 1986. The Beavers tied for second in the Iowa Conference standings - their best regular-season finish ever -- and also made its first trip to the IIAC tournament championship match since 2003.
During his tenure with the Beavers, Rhodes was recognized as a member of the 2014 Iowa Conference Coaching Staff of the Year. He mentored six First-Team All-IIAC selections, two back-to-back Iowa Conference Freshman of the Year winners (2013, 2014), as well as the 2014 AVCA Central Region Freshman of the Year.
Prior to joining the bench in 2012, he served as a student manager at Nebraska from June of 2008 through May 2011, while also serving as a practice assistant, office staff member and video coordinator. During that time, the Huskers posted an overall mark of 86-13.
He was the Vice-President of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Men’s Club Volleyball team during his senior year in 2011. A three-year starting outside hitter, Rhodes was on a team that made three consecutive NIRSA national tournament Sweet 16 appearances from 2009-11.
Rhodes received his B.A. degree in advertising and public relations from UNL in the spring of 2011.
