David Wright starred on the pitch for Creighton men's soccer from 1996-99, were he earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in each of his four seasons. Wright played on teams that won MVC titles in 1996, 1997 and 1998 and were a combined 60-19-7. He was named the MVC Player of the Year and an NSCAA First Team All-American in 1999, while also being tabbed MVC Defensive Player of the Year in 1997. He played on the first College Cup team in school history in 1996, and in 1999 led a stingy Bluejay defense that allowed just nine goals and led the nation in goals against average. Wright was a third-round draft pick by the Miami Fusion in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft.
