Dennis Rasmussen was inducted into Creighton University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993. A three-year baseball and basketball standout for the Bluejays from 1977-80, he earned first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference Honors and was a member of the United States Amateur All-Star team in 1980. Rasmussen left Creighton at the end of his junior year after being selected by the California Angels in the first round (17th overall) in the June 1980 MLB amateur draft.
Rasmussen has compiled a 91-74 career record in the major leagues, spending parts of 11 years with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, and Kansas City Royals.Â
