Donald "Pinky" Knowles played men's basketball at Creighton from 1942-43 and 1946-48, scoring 378 points. As a freshman, Pinky received honorable mention on the All-Missouri Valley Conference team and was named to the all-opponent team of the Great Lakes Naval Training Station team. As captain of the Bluejays, he led the team in scoring and was named by both the Associated Press and the United Press to the All-Missouri Valley Conference teams. Against the Oklahoma Aggies, he shot 9-10 from the field and scored 20 points. Against a powerful Kansas squad, Pinky scored 26 points to lead the Jays to victory.Â
