Jean Tierney batted .298 with 15 RBI, nine stolen bases and only eight strikeouts in over 200 plate appearances in earning First Team All-America honors as a sophomore in 1981. Tierney, who finished her career as the Creighton career runs scored leader, helped Creighton to two AIAW Women’s College World Series berths and the inaugural NCAA WCWS in Omaha in 1982. A two-sport athlete (basketball), Tierney became the first female student-athlete in school history to be inducted into the Creighton Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990.
