Lance Hill becomes the fifth member of the men's soccer program to enter the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame. Hill spent five seasons at Creighton from 199094. He was a member of the first three teams to reach the NCAA Tournament, a streak that currently stands among the nation's best at 15 and counting.
Hill finished his career with 21 goals and 20 assists, including a school-record four goals in one 1993 game against UNLV, but numbers only begin to tell the story of his contributions.
His teams went a combined 72-19-7 and lost just two MVC games in that span. The 1993 team ascended to the number one ranking nationally and finished the regular season with a 19-0-0 record. The 1994 club was the program's first to win an NCAA Tournament game.
Hill was a three-time All-Region performer, including first-team laurels in both 1991 and 1994. His versatility is also notable, as he is one of two players ever to be named first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference as both a forward (1991) and defender (1993). He was also a 1994 member of the MVC All-Tournament Team.
Following his career at Creighton, he was drafted in the 11th round and played professionally for the
Colorado Rapids of the MLS. He would also go on to be named the USISL Premier League Rookie of the Year.
He remains loyal to the university, serving on the National Alumni Board and planning service and social events in the Dallas area that he now calls home. Lance works for IBM Global Financing. He and his wife, Jennifer, have one son, Landon, and reside in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton, Texas.
