Laura Spanheimer Dechant is the 10th women's basketball player to be inducted into the Creighton
Athletics Hall of Fame, the second in as many years.
The 2005 Carl M. Reinert S.J., Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Spanheimer was the Missour Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004. She was the only player in conference history to earn all-defensive team honors all four years of her career. More than just a defensive standout, Spanheimer ranks seventh all-time in Creighton history with 1,588 points as well as fourth all-time with 250 three-point field goals.
A two-time all-MVC first team selection (2004, 2005), Spanheimer also earned Creighton's John J. “Red” McManus Award in 2005.
