
Schuett Scores Career-High 30 Points in Loss at Nebraska

The Huskers continued their run to open the second half, scoring the first 11 points after halftime and opening on a 16-2 run to take their biggest lead of the game, up 57-27 five minutes into the half.
From there, the Bluejays did not give in, down 62-33, they rattled off an 11-0 run to make the score 62-44 with 10:20 to play. An Ally Thrall layup with 5:49 to play brought the Bluejays within 15, cutting the former 30-point lead in half. CU got as close as 12 points, down 74-62 with 2:41 left, before ending the game down 14.
The Jays out-scored NU 40-38 after halftime, solving the Huskers full-court press to create scoring chances, spearheaded by Schuett's career night. CU closed the game on a 40-27 run.
Schuett made the first 10 field goals she attempted, before finishing 11-for-14 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range. The sophomore stayed perfect from the free-throw line on the season, making all four of her attempts to improve to 18-for-18 on the year. Seven of her 10 rebounds and 20 of her 30 points came in the second half.
Kelsey Griffin led the Huskers with 20 points in just 24 minutes of play, before leaving with an injury late in the second half.
The Bluejays shot 37.1 percent (23-62) from the field, including 36.8 percent (7-19) from three-point range in the loss. CU remained hot at the free-throw line, making 12-of-14 in the game for 85.7 percent. Freshman Kelsey Woodard went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line to improve to 19-for-19 to start her collegiate career at the charity stripe.
NU out-rebounded the Jays 38-35, while the Huskers shot 56.6 percent from the field. NU swiped nine steals and forced 18 CU turnovers, while the Jays logged seven steals, including three by Kelsey Crites. Crites played inspired ball off the bench, scoring seven points and grabbing a career-high seven rebounds in addition to her three steals.
Sara Cain finished with nine points and nine rebounds for the Jays, tying her career-high on the glass.
