OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton women's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to Bradley in the opening round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships Friday morning at Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center.
The Bluejays finish the season with a 7-13 overall record.
Creighton was only able to field five players, leading to forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Lauren Mastro and Lindsey Erickson teamed to defeat BU's Emily Regenold and Nicole Miller, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles. However, twin sisters Leesa and Sarah Cadwallader were beaten at No. 1, meaning Bradley earned the doubles point with the forfeit win at No. 3.
The Jays immediately went down 2-0 with the automatic forfeit at No. 6 singles. Erickson and Mastro were each leading their matches at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, but losses by Leesa Cadwallader and Rachelle Shoji clinched the match for Bradley. The top three singles matches did not finish after the Braves had earned the deciding fourth point.
Bradley moves on to play top-seeded Indiana State later today at 4:30 PM.
The Creighton men will play their first-round match at 2 PM today, as the sixth-seeded Jays will face third-seeded Indiana State.
