OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's tennis team ended its spring trip with a three-game win streak in Orlando, Fla. The Jays finished with a 3-1 record during their time in central Florida.
The team's toughest win came against Valparaiso, as the Jays downed the Crusaders 4-3, in a match that last four hours and 51 minutes. The match was tied at 3-3 after singles, and the first two doubles matches split, leaving it up to Brian Ward and Gabe Nagy to get the last point. The two were forced into a tiebreaker, which the duo won 7-4, to win the last doubles point 9-8 and give CU the 4-3 victory.
For the week Nagy was a combined 6-1, going 3-0 in doubles and 3-1 in singles. He did not have a chance to improve on his doubles record against Bryant University, as the two teams only played singles.
Creighton was also leading St. Joseph's 3-2, on March 12, when the match had to be abandoned due to time constraints.
The Jays will return to action on Sunday, March 22, as they travel to Lincoln to take on the Huskers.
