
Men's Tennis Clipped By Braves, 4-3

PEORIA, Ill. - The Creighton Men's Tennis team fell just short on Sunday, as Bradley closed the Jays' regular season with a 4-3 victory at the Markin Tennis Courts.
The Jays (10-6, 1-4 MVC) lost the doubles point and fell one win short on the singles end, splitting the six matches with the Braves (8-15, 1-4 MVC) three matches apiece.
J.T. Christian and Billy Paluch earned the lone Creighton win in doubles, posting an 8-6 win over Callen Fraychineaud and Brock Reiman at No. 1.
The Braves would respond with wins at No. 2 and 3 as Milos Romic and Richard Robertson defeated Kyle Obermeier and Gabe Nagy 8-2, and Juan Cuadrado and Eric Nguyen dispatched of Connor Macey and Sean Mathison, 8-4.
The Jays posted its singles wins at No. 2, 4 and 6 as Paluch, Obermeier and Bryan Lube all recorded wins.
Paluch beat Cuadrado 6-4, 6-4, Obermeier bested Reiman 6-4, 6-2 and Lube needed a third set to top Richard Robertson, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
Creighton needed just one more win for the duel victory, but could not get the job done at No. 1, 3 or 5.
Romic posted a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Christian, Fraychineaud shut out Nagy, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, and Nguyen toppled James McAvoy at No. 5, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7).
Creighton will head to Wichita, Kan. for the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Team Championships. Duels will start on Friday at a time to be determined.
