
Men's Tennis Drops Match in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. - After cruising through its first two matches in Orlando, the Creighton men's tennis team was swept by Toledo on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The Jays drop to 6-4, 0-1, while Toledo improves to 14-8 on the season.
The Jays were outmatched starting in the doubles competition. In the No. 1 doubles, J.T. Christian and Billy Paluch fell to Sven Burus and Aleksandar Elezovic 8-2, dropping their first match in three matches. The duo is now 6-4 on the season. In the No. 2 doubles, Ryan Norman and Bryan Lube lost their first doubles match as a pair, falling to 2-1 on the season after losing 8-3 to Mircea Dimofte and Bryant Dudzik. In the No. 3 doubles, Kyle Obermeier and Sean Mathison fell 8-4 to Mutthavit Likitkumch and Leo Sarria, dropping their first doubles contest at the No. 3 spot.
Singles competition continued in the same fashion, with only one singles match going to three sets. Paluch fell 6-0, 7-5 to Elezovic in the No. 1 singles, while Christian fell 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets to Likitkumch in the No. 2 singles.
In the only three set match of the day, Obermeier won the opening set 6-2, but then fell 6-2, 6-1 in the final two to fall to Burus in the No. 3 singles. The No. 4 and No. 5 singles ended in identical 6-4, 6-1 scores, with Lube falling to Dimofte in the No. 4 singles and Gabe Nagy losing to Harika in the No. 5 singles. Finishing the sweep was Sarria defeating Norman 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles.
Both the men's and women's tennis teams will play tomorrow at 11:30 am from Orlando against St Joseph's, followed by playing Robert Morris on Thursday in their final match in Orlando. Check into www.gocreighton.com for the final scores from Orlando.
