After a scoreless first half, CU freshman Lucas Stauffer scored the game winner in the 50th minute to put the Bluejays ahead for good.
Creighton (15-3-2) advances to the third round of the NCAA tournament for the third time in four seasons under head coach Elmar Bolowich and the tenth time since 2000.
Oregon State finished its season at 12-8-1 following the setback.
Creighton had two good scoring chances in the first half but a shot by senior Sean Kim bounced off the crossbar and classmate David Abidor's shot was saved near the top of the net by OSU goalkeeper Matt Bersano.
Stauffer's score came off of a rebound just a couple yards in front of the net on the left side after touches by sophomore Fabian Herbers and junior Timo Pitter.
HIGHLIGHTS:
The Bluejays held their 19th opponent scoreless before the break this year and posted their 11th shutout of the season. Creighton improved to 11-2-0 at home in 2014 and 12-2-0 all-time in NCAA Tournament matches played at Morrison Stadium.
Junior Connor Sparrow played all 90 minutes in net while making one save for Creighton and improved to 15-3-2 on the year.
In the other part of Creighton's bracket, fellow BIG EAST rival Xavier upset No. 5 Indiana 2-1 in Bloomington to advance to the round of 16.
As a result, Creighton hosts Xavier in a third round contest next Sunday at 1 p.m. CT inside Morrison Stadium for the right to advance to an NCAA Quarterfinal match.
