Scouting Creighton (10-5-0, 2-2-0 BIG EAST)
With consecutive victories in BIG EAST play, including a thrilling overtime win at Seton Hall on Thursday, the Bluejays enter Sunday's match at St. John's flying high.
Senior Alyssa Jara knocked home the golden goal against the Pirates, her third of the season, but it was junior Lauren Sullivan that set the play in motion by beating four Seton Hall defenders from midfield. Sullivan also scored the Bluejays first goal of the match.
Sullivan has shined in BIG EAST play, scoring seven points on three goals and an assist. She leads the Bluejays on the season with eight goals and 18 points (8G, 2 A).
Entering the season without a definite starter in the net, freshman Erin Scott grabbed the torch and has no intention of giving it up. Scott has delivered six clean sheets in 15 matches.
Scouting St. John's (11-2-0, 3-1-0 BIG EAST)
While Creighton enters Sunday's match on a high, St. John's comes in hot. The Red Storm suffered just their second loss of the season, 3-1 at Georgetown on Thursday. The three goals are the most allowed this season by St. John's.
Things went wrong quickly for St. John's against the Hoyas as goalkeeper Diana Poulin allowed a goal in the first minute of play (0:40 to be exact). After Rachel Daly got the Red Storm even midway through the opening period, Georgetown answered with two goals in the second half.
Daly is clearly the player to watch for on the St. John's offensive end. She leads the BIG EAST with 12 goals and four assists in 13 matches (28 points).
St. John's is 4-0-0 at home this season.
