Men's Tennis Coasts to a 7-0 Victory over North Dakota

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men's tennis team coasted to a 7-0 victory over North Dakota at the Hanscom Tennis Center Friday night.
Creighton (6-1) opened the night by sweeping all three doubles contests from North Dakota (2-2). The Bluejays also won five of six singles matches in straight sets against UND to bring home their sixth win in seven matches to begin 2015.
In doubles action, sophomore Jake Norman and senior Elliott Baker earned a 6-4 victory on court one. Freshman Alex Koca and junior August Nysted won a 6-3 decision on court two. At No. 3 doubles, juniors Quinn Dippel and Nick Thompson also won 6-4. As a result, Creighton took a 1-0 lead into the singles competition.
At No. 1 singles Norman quickly dispatched of his opponent 6-2, 6-3 to put the Bluejays up by two. Sophomore Aaron Chalstrom followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court six to build a 3-0 Creighton lead.
Sophomore Harrison Lang claimed the team match point with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court four. Junior Quinn Dippel swept past his opponent 7-6, 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
In the final match of the day, freshman Alex Koca completed a hard-fought comeback win. After dropping the first set in a tiebreak 7-6, Koca bounced back to win the second stanza 6-4 before claiming the win in a 10-4 deciding superbreaker.
Creighton travels to No. 66 Nebraska for its next match on Feb. 28.
