Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Drake's Roger Knapp Tennis Invite

Des Moines, Iowa - Six Bluejays posted first round victories in singles competition as the Creighton women's tennis team opened the fall season at Drake's Roger Knapp Tennis Invite on Friday, Sept. 11.
Freshman Ashley Ishimura posted an easy 6-2, 6-0 win over North Dakota's Faith Lee in the opening round of the top singles bracket. Joining Ishimura with straight set wins in the opening round were freshman Michaela Henne (Flight B), senior Sam Anderson (Flight C) as well as Claire Embree, Ashley Monaco and Karlin Naslund in Flight D.
Monaco and Naslund also collected wins in the second round of Flight D competition.
Doubles play was not as kind as each of the Creighton's four squads dropped the first round match, but remain alive following victories in the back draw.
The Roger Knapp Tennis Invite will continue on Saturday, Sept. 12.
