Men's Soccer Ranked No. 15 In Final NSCAA Poll

Bluejays finished 2016 at 13-7-3, and made 24th NCAA Tournament in the past 25 seasons
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's soccer team filled the No. 15 spot in the final NSCAAÂ Division I poll released on Tuesday afternoon.Â
This is the 17th time in the past 21 seasons, and sixth in the past seven, in which the Bluejays earned a spot in the final NSCAA poll.Â
Creighton played in the third round of the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, and concluded the 2016 season at 13-7-3 following a 2-1 loss against Providence on Nov. 26.
The Bluejays earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament for a fourth straight year after a runner-up finish in the BIG EAST Championships presented by Jeep. Creighton's 2016 appearance in the NCAAs marked the program's 24th berth in the past 25 seasons.
Ricky Lopez-Espin and Riggs Lennon each led the Jays with 10 goals this season, and Myles Englis added seven, including five during postseason play.Â
BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year Ricardo Perez capped off his final season at Creighton with four goals and five assists, and Joel Rydstrand had seven assists to lead the squad.
NSCAA Third Team All-American and BIG EAST Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Alex Kapp posted seven shutouts and a 0.84 goals against average.
The BIG EAST was also represented by Providence (15-7-0)Â at No. 10 and Butler (13-5-2) at No. 18 in the final NSCAA Poll.Â
In addition to the NSCAA poll, the Bluejays checked in at No. 18 in the Top Drawer Soccer Postseason Top 25.
