Montgomery Endows Baseball Scholarship
6/3/2016 9:30:00 AM | Ath. Development
The Creighton Athletic Development Office is proud to announce the establishment of the Donald E. Montgomery Endowed Baseball Scholarship. Former baseball student-athlete Donald Montgomery, B.S., B.A., 84' and J.D. 89' and his wife Paris established this endowment cementing a lifelong partnership with Creighton Athletics in benefit of the  Bluejay baseball program.Â
Â
The endowment will provide scholarship support for a baseball student-athlete who is pursing a degree from the Heider College of Business. Â This commitment illustrates Montgomery's gratitude to the baseball program and will allow the Creighton Bluejays to continue to compete in scholarship funding with schools across the country.
Â
"The baseball program attracts a unique type of student-athlete, high character and caliber individuals who not only excel athletically but also academically. This is why I wanted to endow a scholarship – to benefit a baseball student-athlete in the college of business" said Don Montgomery.Â
Â
A holder of multiple degrees from Creighton, Montgomery attributes much of his success in life to his experience as a student-athlete on the baseball team and the University.
Â
"Personally, with where I grew up, I know I would not have been able to attend Creighton or experience many of the things I have in life without the opportunity to play baseball at this University."
Â
Donald and his wife Paris reside in the Atlanta, Ga., area where he is the Senior Tax Director and Counsel for General Electric Energy Management. Don's wish is that this endowment is a vehicle for other individuals who are passionate about Creighton Baseball and the Heider College of Business to give back.
Â
"My hope is that this endowed scholarship helps the baseball program attract even more talented student-athletes to Creighton and enables the team to experience more success and compete with other programs across the country. Hopefully, former student-athletes, supporters of the baseball program and alumni of the Heider College of Business will use this endowment as an opportunity to give back."
Â
By contributing to the Donald E. Montgomery Endowed Baseball Scholarship Fund, you are helping Creighton University educate baseball student-athletes and enabling the program to compete for conference and national titles. "Don exemplifies what it means to be a Bluejay. Since his time at Creighton he has achieved so much and he always acknowledges the impact Creighton University and baseball program had on his life. We are honored that he and Paris have endowed this scholarship and decided to invest in our student-athletes and mission," said Adrian Dowell, Assistant Athletic Director for Development.
