Gener heads to Creighton from Plano, Texas while Krueger will transition from Omaha Duchesne Academy
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2019-20 season.
Emma Gener (Plano, Texas) and Kate Krueger (Omaha, Neb.) will each join the Bluejay program.
"We are thrilled to sign two players that have had great junior careers and continue to improve," Lilly said. "Both are also brilliant in the classroom and will do amazing things here at Creighton and beyond.
"We will graduate three players that have been tremendous here, so having high-quality players and people to replace them was very important. I believe Kate and Emma will do a fantastic job for us."
Gener claimed the 6A Doubles State Championship in 2018 and was a finalist at the state championships in singles in 2017 while representing Plano West High School. Her Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) for singles is listed at 9.36 while Tennisrecruiting.net ranks her as a four-star.
"When I came for my visit, I completely fell in love with the school and everything it has to offer," Gener said. "The team has a great group of girls and awesome coaches. I can't wait to be a part of the Bluejay family."
Krueger joins the Bluejay program after competing at Omaha Duchesne Academy.
A two-time state runner-up in Class B No. 1 singles in Nebraska (2016 and 2017), Krueger's UTR is listed at 9.48. She also qualified as a National Level 2 quarterfinalist in 2018 and holds a 4-star rating by Tennisrecruiting.net.
"I'm so happy to commit to Creighton and stick around Omaha as a Bluejay for the next four years," Krueger said.
The 2019 dual season for this year's women's tennis team begins on Jan. 19 at Nebraska.
