Men's Soccer Moves Up To #12 In United Soccer Coaches Poll

Creighton rose 13 spots in the poll after finishing last week 1-0
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's soccer team jumped up to the No. 12 position in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, which was released by the organization on Tuesday.
The Bluejays moved up 13 spots from No. 25 after finishing last week 1-0 with a 3-0 win against Butler on Saturday to open BIG EAST play and improve to 4-1-1 overall.
Creighton's current ranking marks the program's highest since Oct. 18, 2016 when the Bluejays were No. 10.Â
Sven Koenig leads the team in points (6) and goals (3) after posting a pair goals against Butler. The Bluejays have also tallied two consecutive shutouts and 205 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. Overall, freshman Paul Kruse has surrendered only two goals through the first six matches of the season and owns a 0.32 goals against average, which ranks 6th nationally.Â
Creighton is the lone BIG EAST team ranked inside this week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25. Xavier (27) and Villanova (5) each received votes.Â
Wake Forest continued to hold the No. 1 ranking for the fourth consecutive week, while Indiana and North Carolina also held their positions at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Denver and Michigan State rounded out the top five.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon for their first BIG EAST road match. Creighton will matchup against Villanova for a match scheduled to kickoff at 3 p.m. Central.Â
