Omaha, Neb. -- Behind a goal in the 76th minute from senior Jaylin Bosak, the Creighton women's soccer team collected a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 24th.
The win lifted the Bluejays to 8-6-2 on the season and 2-3-2 in BIG EAST play, while Seton Hall fell to 1-12-1 overall and 0-7-0 in BIG EAST action.
Mathematically eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament Seton Hall came in as a Pirate team team that was playing purely for pride. The result was Creighton finding themselves in an extreme fight throughout the match.
The first half saw nine total shots from the two teams, with six coming from Creighton. The most dangerous shot of the half, however, came in the closing minutes as a Seton Hall corner led to a shot from seven yards out. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Sullivan denied the Pirates to send the match to halftime scoreless.
The Bluejays turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, firing nine shots and holding Seton Hall without one chance at the goal.
In the 76th minute of play a Bluejay corner sent into the box by sophomore Ansley Atkinson found the head of Bosak as she glided through the air. Bosak sent the ball into the back of the net for her third goal of the season from eight yards out.
In the match Creighton out shot Seton Hall 15-3 and held a 6-3 edge on corners.
The Bluejays stay out east for another match this weekend, returning to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 27th as Creighton battles St. John's at 12:00 pm in Queens, N.Y.
