Volleyball Ranked For 50th Straight Week

Bluejays still tied for first place in the BIG EAST

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Volleyball team is ranked in the Top 25 for the 50th straight week after dropping five spots from ninth to 14th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll that was released on Monday, November 11th.
The Bluejays are 20-4 on the season and tied atop the BIG EAST Conference standings with a 13-1 league record after last week's setback at Villanova snapped a 35-match win streak over conference foes.
No. 3 Baylor (20-1), No. 6 Nebraska (20-3), No. 13 Washington (19-5) and unranked Villanova (20-6) are the lone teams to beat the Bluejays thus far and have combined for a 79-15 record.
This week marks the 50th consecutive week the Bluejays have been ranked, the nation's 10th-longest active streak. The Bluejays have now been ranked in 64 all-time polls, and every poll since Oct. 31, 2016. CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017.
The Bluejays also moved from 19th to 21st in the fifth official RPI listings released by the NCAA. Creighton, which appeared in the NCAA RPI rankings at No. 10 on October 14, has dropped 11 spots in the NCAA RPI despite sweeping seven of eight matches since the initial reveal. It is also seven spots worse than the program's RPI ranking at this time a year ago, when CU ended up with the No. 9 national seed.
Creighton is 107-26 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll, including a 36-12 mark on the road, where the Bluejays will be this weekend. The Bluejays visit Xavier on Saturday and Butler on Sunday. Both contests are at 12 p.m. Central.
