Women's Tennis Inks Alexandra Centra

Centra heads to Omaha after spending time at Academies in Florida and North Carolina
OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton women's tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced the signing of Alexandra Centra who will join the program beginning in the fall of 2020.
"We are thrilled to be adding another high caliber player to our already talented lineup for next year," Lilly said. "Alex seemed to fit in right away on her visit and we believe she is going to do great things here at Creighton, on and off the court."
Centra, a native of Hawai'i, is currently training at the Flex Tennis Academy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She also trained for one and a half years at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in Naples, Florida and was a member of the ASC advanced travel team.
According to Tennis Recruiting.net, Centra is a four-star recruit. Her highest Universal Tennis Rating was listed at 10.02.
In the fall of 2018, Centra earned the singles crown at the Curacao Open on the International Tennis Federation Circuit. She also paired with Ariana Salgueiro and secured the doubles championship at the 2019 Puerto Rico Bowl ITF.
Centra is also a three-time USTA Junior Section singles champion and four-time USTA Junior Section doubles champion. She also helped her team claim the the USTA Junior Team Tennis 18's Open championship.
In 2018, Centra earned the USTA Pro Circuit Wild Card Qualifying Doubles championship. She also earned the 2017 USTA Junior National L3 Doubles Championship and advanced to the finals of the USTA Junior National L3 singles.
"I chose Creighton University not only for its competitive academic and athletic programs, but for the chance to continue developing as a person and player under coach Lilly," Centra said. "The entire team and staff graciously accepted me from the moment I arrived on campus, confirming my desire to be part of such a special program."
The 2020 Creighton women's tennis spring season begins on Jan. 24 in Des Moines, Iowa for a match against Iowa State.
