Led by 47 Points from Agnew and Rembao, Women's Basketball Downs NDSU 70-59

Omaha, Neb. -- Led by a combined 47 points from senior Jaylyn Agnew (25 points) and junior Tatum Rembao (22 points), the Creighton women's basketball team defeated North Dakota State 70-59 on Monday, Nov. 18th.
The win moved the Bluejays to 3-1 on the season, while North Dakota State fell to 0-4 overall.
Down 6-2 early in the first quarter, a 7-0 run pushed the Bluejays in front for the remainder of the opening quarter. Sophomore Gracey Griglione made it 6-5 (9:01) with her first three-pointer of the season. Consecutive layups from junior Temi Carda and Agnew gave Creighton a 9-6 lead with 7:04 left in the first quarter. The two teams traded buckets over the next four minutes, but Agnew delivered the final four of the frame on a pair of layups to five Creighton a 15-10 edge after one period.
The momentum turned in the second quarter as the Bison outscored the Bluejays 13-4 in the first eight minutes to erase Creighton advantage and take a 23-19 lead (1:57). The Bluejays found their offense in the final two minutes to pull even at 25-25, but North Dakota State knocked down a three-ball in the closing seconds to take a 28-25 edge into halftime.
Agnew asserted her will in the third quarter, scoring 12 of her 25 points during the frame. The Bison, however, opened the period with their fourth three-pointer of the game to take a 31-25 advantage. The Bluejays turned to their senior leader and Agnew answered the bell with seven straight points to put Creighton back on top 32-31 (8:17). Following a Bison bucket to reclaim the lead, Agnew calmly drained a trifecta to give Creighton a 35-33 lead at the 7:55 mark. The Bison committed to stopping Agnew, giving the rest of the Bluejays an opening. Agnew's Bluejay teammates pushed Creighton edge to double-digits (49-38) getting contributions from Rembao (five points), sophomore Chloe Dworak (four points), freshman Carly Bachelor (four points) and freshman Mykel Parham (one point) to soar on a 14-5 run. Agnew closed the quarter with a pair of free throws to give Creighton a 51-40 edge heading to the final 10 minutes.
Facing a pressure defense from the Bison down the stretch, the Bluejays pushed their edge to as much as 19 at 69-50 (4:40) and cruised to the 70-59 win.Â

Creighton returns to the hardwood on Sunday, Nov. 24th as the Bluejays face off with intrastate rival Nebraska at the Huskers home court, Pinnacle Bank Arena, at 2:00 pm.
