Agnew Earns Second Straight BIG EAST Player of the Week Award

After torching the Mountaineers for 34, Agnew faced intense defensive attention for much of the battle with Temple the following night, Agnew still delivered a 15-point showing in Creighton's 69-59 win over Temple. Following the tournament Agnew was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team, averaging 24.5 points over the two contests on 18-of-36 (50%) from the field.
Agnew and the Bluejays return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4th in a road game at South Dakota. Tip is set for 7:00 pm.

BIG EAST Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Jaylyn Agnew, Creighton, Sr., F
Agnew was once again the BIG EAST's top scorer in a 2-0 week for Creighton, averaging 24.5 points off 50-percent shooting in victories over No. 23/RV West Virginia and Temple in Cancun. The senior went for a career-high 34 points, knocking down 13-of-19 attempts from the field including 6-of-11 from deep as the Bluejays upset the 23rd-ranked Mountaineers. She added 15 points, five rebounds and three assists against the Owls as Creighton completed a perfect week in Mexico. She was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team. Agnew began the week as the No. 5 scorer in the BIG EAST this season before bumping her average by nearly two points per game to now lead the conference with a 20.0 clip.
BIG EAST Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week
Leilani Correa, St. John's, Fr., G
Correa picks up her second top rookie award of the season after leading all BIG EAST freshmen with a 12.0 scoring average over a three-game week for the Red Storm. Her week was highlighted by a career-high 20 points in Sunday's contest at UNLV, going 12-for-12 from the free-throw line while grabbing eight boards. She added three steals and two assists against the Lady Rebels. The rookie also scored in double figures with 11 off the bench in Monday's win over UMass, making 5-of-10 attempts from the field and grabbing four boards. Correa's 6.7 rebounds per game last week led St. John's, as did her 2.3 steals.
BIG EAST Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Sonya Morris, DePaul, So., G
Morris averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals in a 2-0 week for No. 16/17 DePaul. She shot .533 from the field, including a 10-of-14 showing en route to 22 points in Sunday's win at RV/RV Northwestern.
Brianna Jones, Georgetown, Grad., G
Jones led the Hoyas to a 1-1 week in California, highlighted by a 15-point, five-rebound outing in Georgetown's win at Loyola Marymount on Friday.
Selena Lott, Marquette, Jr., G
In a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles, Lott averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals. She had 16 points, four assists and three steals in MU's narrow setback to No. 10/8 Mississippi State, before going for a team-high 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win at Saint Mary's. She scored in double figures again in Saturday's win over Tulsa, dishing five assists as well.
Alissa Alston, St. John's, R-Sr., G
Alston averaged 12.7 points, .440 shooting, including .667 from three, and 4.0 rebounds in a three-game week for St. John's. Her week was highlighted by a team-high 18 points off 7-of-11 shooting against IUPUI on Saturday, while adding a double-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds against UNLV on Sunday.
Alexis Lewis, Seton Hall, Sr., G/F
Lewis led Seton Hall with 19.0 points off .448 shooting along with 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a 1-1 week in the Bahamas. Lewis scored a game-high 24 points while grabbing eight rebounds and earning four steals in Friday's win over Vanderbilt.
