Bluejays will play five 2018 NCAA Tournament teams, including two ACC foes

OMAHA, Neb. – Creighton men's soccer head coach Johnny Torres officially released the 2019 schedule on Tuesday. The slate includes five matches against teams that reached the 2018 NCAA Tournament, including two from the ACC.
Creighton will play three exhibition matches. The Bluejays head to Peoria, Illinois for a contest at Bradley on Saturday, Aug. 17 and host Missouri State and UIC at Morrison Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 21 (7 p.m.) and Saturday, Aug. 24 (1 p.m.), respectively.
In addition to a pair of home preseason friendlies, the Bluejays are scheduled to host 10 regular-season matches, including four against BIG EAST opponents, a Socctoberfest contest on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. against Akron -- the 2018 national runner-up -- and a date with crosstown foe Nebraska-Omaha (Monday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.).
Creighton opens the 2019 regular-season with a road trip to North Carolina for matches against the ACC's Wake Forest and North Carolina. The Bluejays start the season on Friday, Aug. 30 in Chapel Hill against the Tar Heels before closing out the first weekend in Winston-Salem for a match against the Demon Deacons (Sunday, Sept. 1). Wake Forest earned the No. 1 overall seed in last year's NCAA Tournament, while North Carolina claimed the No. 5 seed.
After the opening-weekend road trip, Creighton continues its season with four consecutive home matches and a total of six contests at Morrison Stadium during the month of September.
The Bluejays' home slate begins with their annual Socctoberfest celebration on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m., as Creighton welcomes Akron to Omaha. The Zips fell 1-0 to Maryland during last season's Division I Men's Soccer National Championship.
Creighton will also host Columbia (Monday, Sept. 9, noon), UC Irvine (Friday, Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m.) and Nebraska-Omaha (Monday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m.) before the start of conference action.
The Bluejays open BIG EAST play on Friday, Sept. 20 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin against Marquette. The Golden Eagles claimed a victory during penalty kicks at Morrison Stadium to eliminate Creighton from the 2018 BIG EAST Championship.
Creighton ends the month of September with home matches against Tulsa (Tuesday, Sept. 24) and Villanova (Saturday, Sept. 28) before hosting Green Bay on Tuesday, October 1.
The Bluejays' final seven matches will each be against BIG EAST competition with four contests away from the friendly confines of Morrison Stadium.
Creighton's senior night match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 2 against Butler.
The 2019 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship presented by Jeep is scheduled to start on Saturday, Nov. 9 with first round matchups, continue with semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and conclude with the title match on Sunday, Nov. 17.
WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina will play host to the 2019 Division I Men's College Cup on Dec. 13 and 15.
