Dear Creighton Athletics Supporter:
First and foremost, I hope you and your family are safe and healthy as we all continue to navigate these difficult times.
Here at Creighton, I am very proud of our staff and student-athletes for their intelligence, patience, character and understanding of today's ever changing climate due to the global pandemic. The impact of COVID-19 at our University, our athletics department and our community are unparalleled, and the future holds much uncertainty. We are fully committed to our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence - athletically, academically and as leaders in their families, businesses and communities. As a result of the pandemic, we have learned to be more humble, more gracious, more empathetic, more open-minded, more inclusive and more honest. We need to continue being adaptable and intensely focused on learning.
There are still many decisions and logistics to be worked through regarding the upcoming basketball season as well as the rescheduling of our fall sports playing in the spring. We are working tirelessly to prepare and provide answers to you as quickly as possible. Additionally, our focus continues to be on the well-being of our student-athletes and providing a safe environment for them to practice and compete, and if possible, compete in front of you - our most loyal fans.
I remain fully committed to and thankful for our fan base. While we can't see you as much as we would like right now, please know that we feel your presence. Your passion and commitment have allowed us to provide a first-class athletics program. The reality is that this pandemic threatens our ability to sustain the success we have built over many years. Everything we pride ourselves in - competing at the highest level while developing young men and women to make a commitment for and with others - relies on our ability to financially support our student-athletes and we could not do it without you.
Once we have more information specifically related to the basketball season, we will comprehensively communicate our plan, information and options to season ticket holders, Jaybackers and fans. While the full financial and logistical impact of the pandemic is not known, your support will continue to help us provide a first-class education for Bluejay student-athletes.
I remain thankful and humbled by your fortitude during this unique time and we look forward to communicating with you soon.
