Volleyball Announces 2020 Spring Schedule

OMAHA, Neb. -- Head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth announced the 2020 spring schedule for the Creighton Volleyball team on Wednesday, Feb. 12th. The six-time defending BIG EAST champion Bluejays will play on four Saturday's this spring, including a pair of dates in the Omaha area.

"I'm excited for some kids that maybe didn't get a lot of playing time in the fall to get a chance to be on the court and work through some nerves," said Booth. "We've been really focused on individual skill development so far this spring. It's fun to put it out on the court and see what it looks like."

Creighton's spring debut will be on Saturday, March 21, with a match at South Dakota. The Coyotes went 31-3 last season, including a 16-0 mark in Summit League play, and finished as the runner-up at the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.

The Bluejays will play closer to home on March 28 at the TVA College Tournament in nearby La Vista. The event will feature multiple matches for a slew of teams and take place at The Volleyball Academy (11934 Portal Road in La Vista, Neb.). The exact schedule and pairings will be finalized in the coming weeks.

CU returns to action the following Saturday, heading to Kansas City for the 2020 UMKC Spring Tournament with a variety of teams that takes place at UMKC's Swinney Recreation Center. The schedule for that event is also being determined.

The Bluejays close the spring on April 25 with a home match at D.J. Sokol Arena against Missouri. The Tigers went 22-8 a year ago under first-year coach Joshua Taylor, reaching the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Last year's Creighton team finished 25-6 and was ranked 16th in the final AVCA poll after making an eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The Bluejays graduated Megan Sharkey as well as All-BIG EAST selections Megan Ballenger, Madelyn Cole and Brittany Witt from their 2019 team.
