Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton women's basketball team signed Brittany Harshaw (Andover, Kan.), Kiani Lockett (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Kennedy Townsend (Kansas City, Mo.) for the 2022-23 season as the national letter of intent period opened on Wednesday, November 10.
A 6'1 guard from Andover Central High School, Harshaw was a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist in 2020-21. She is a three-time All-State selection, earning First Team honors in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She is a three-time All-AVCTL (Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League) First Team selection. The AVCTL is a 26-team league. Harshaw averaged better than 18 points and six rebounds per game as a junior (18.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 3.3 apg).Â
"Brittany is a long wing that can shoot and does a good job of moving without the ball," said head coach Jim Flanery. "Her length will help her be an asset on defense as well."
Lockett is a 5'8 point guard from Minnetonka High School, the same high school as current Creighton director of basketball operations Jenny Vickers. Lockett spent her first two seasons of high school at DeLaSalle HS. She is a three-time All-State recipient, collecting Honorable Mention as a freshman, First Team (3A) as a sophomore and First Team (4A) in 2020-21. Lockett led DeLaSalle HS to the State Championship as a freshman and a Co-State Title in 2019-20. Moving up to the 4A class last season with Minnetonka, she averaged 15 points, six assist and five rebounds per game.
"Kiani is a pass first point guard that can push the ball and is a very good facilitator," said Flanery. "I like what she can do defensively and I think she can help us on both ends of the floor."
Creighton's third signee is a 5'10 guard from Park Hill High School. Townsend is a two-time All-State selection as well as a Direnna Award Finalist (presented to the top high school boys and girls basketball player in the Kansas City area). A three-time team MVP, Townsend is also a three-time All-District 6 and All-Suburban Conference selection. During her junior season she averaged 22 points and six rebounds per game.
"Kennedy is a strong, combo guard with a good all around skill set that will give her a chance to be a two-way player for us," noted Flanery.
