Omaha, Neb. -- The Creighton Men's Tennis program added two class of 2022 signees to the program, Zachary Kuo (Omaha, Neb.) and Kirtan Patel (Ontario, Canada) during November signing period.
A senior at Creighton Preparatory School, Kuo is a local recruit for the Bluejays. Earlier in 2021, Kuo won both the Nebraska Metro and State singles championships, earning him the No. 6 overall rank among Plains states recruits according to Tennisrecruiting.net. Kuo is ranked 229th in the US and merits a 10.3 UTR.
"Zach continues to improve and really dominated the state tennis tournament this past fall," said Bluejay head tennis coach Tom Lilly. "He has room to grow and we feel practicing and competing with D1 players will bring out the best in his game. We are happy that he decided to stay in town and play in front of the home fans as a Bluejay."
Zachary's older sister, Kristal Kuo, played for the Bluejays women's tennis team for two years from the 2019 to 2021 seasons and was named the program's most improved player for the 2020-21 season.
Patel, of Robinson High School in Ontario, joins the team with a strong repertoire of rankings among players in his age group in the neighboring nation. Patel is ranked No. 8 out of all 18-and-under players in Canada and was the runner-up in the Canadian Junior Singles Championship competition last September.
"We have been following Kirtan for over a year and have watched him move up the Canadian rankings," Lilly said. "He is passionate about the game of tennis and competes in nearly every big tournament. I think he will do very well in the collegiate team atmosphere and have a very successful career here."
Patel also has a No. 707 International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking and an 11.2 UTR.
