Creighton now one win away from an eighth straight league title
OMAHA, Neb. -- The No. 21 Creighton Volleyball team won its 10th straight match with a 3-0 win vs. Seton Hall on Friday, Nov. 19. Scores of the Bluejay sweep were 25-16, 25-13, 25-8.
The Bluejays are now 27-3 on the year and improved to 15-2 in BIG EAST play. The 27 wins, as well as 84 set victories, are both tied for the national lead. Creighton has now won 38 straight sets against the Pirates, its longest streak ever against any opponent.
Creighton served up 13 aces and limited the Pirates to just 16 kills on -.046 hitting. CU's 13 aces rank tied for third-most in a three-set match in program history, two behind the mark of 15 done twice in 1995.
Kendra Wait had a double-double with 25 assists and 12 digs for Creighton while Jaela Zimmerman had a double-double of her own with 10 kills and 10 digs. Creighton hit .274 with 37 kills, 13 aces, 45 digs and 10 blocks.
Seton Hall got five kills by Peri Lucas but did not hit better than .000 in any of the three sets. SHU's 16 kills were the fourth-fewest ever by a Bluejay opponent and its -.046 hitting the seventh-best mark by the CU defense.
Creighton closes the regular-season on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it hosts St. John's in a match that will be nationally-televised on FS1. The Bluejays can clinch an eighth straight BIG EAST Conference regular-season title and will honor seniors Abby Bottomley, Naomi Hickman and Annika Welty after the match.
