Four Bluejays score in double-figures in final tune-up
OMAHA, Neb. -- Payton Brotzki paced four women in double-figures with 19 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Creighton women's basketball team to a 99-46 victory over Wayne State in exhibition play on Wednesday evening at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Creighton never trailed against its in-state Division II competition, racing to leads of 28-11 after one quarter, 58-21 at halftime and 78-37 after three quarters.
Every Bluejay in uniform scored at least one basket and three Bluejays each dished out seven of the program's 33 assists on the evening. Creighton shot 53.5 percent for the game and won the rebound battle 56-30.
Wayne State was led by its lone returning starter, Kyle Hammer, who scored 10 points and six rebounds, but the Wildcats converted just 25.4 percent of its shots for the game and were outscored 23-1 in transition.
Creighton opens the regular-season on Nov. 10 with a 6 p.m. game at Drake. Wayne State tips off at Newman on Nov. 13th at 2 p.m. in Wichita, Kan.
