Volleyball Announces Schedule Changes

Bluejays will play Xavier twice this weekend, but not Iowa State
OMAHA, Neb. -- Due to continued impact from matches altered by COVID earlier this season, the Creighton women's volleyball team is announcing three schedule changes.Â
The Bluejays (8-3, 5-1 BIG EAST) will now host Xavier (7-5, 3-1 BIG EAST) at 6 p.m. Central on both Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 at D.J. Sokol Arena. The matches are a makeup of previously postponed contests that had been scheduled for February 26 and 27 in Omaha.
Ironically, the matches between the Bluejays and Musketeers will knock out one of the two league leaders in the Midwest Division from contention for the BIG EAST Championship. It also clinches a BIG EAST Championship spot for third-place Marquette (9-3, 4-2 BIG EAST), who instead are planning to play an exhibition match vs. DePaul on Sunday. Due to today's changes, Creighton will now need an additional win this weekend to secure a bid to the BIG EAST Championship (April 2-3 in Omaha), while Xavier would have to beat Creighton twice to earn a spot.
As a result of the changes, Creighton's match vs. Iowa State that had been planned for Saturday, March 27 is canceled and will not be made up.
