Volleyball Climbs to 17th After 9-1 Start

Creighton has won three straight tournaments
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball moved up two spots to 17th in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top 25 poll after a 3-1 week.
The Bluejays, who made their first appearance in the Fall 2021 poll last week at No. 19, lost to then-No. 3 Nebraska before beating SMU, Illinois and Nebraska-Omaha to win last weekend's Bluejay Invitational. The Cornhuskers fell three spots after losing to Utah in Lincoln over the weekend.
Creighton's 9-1 start equals the program's best record after 10 matches, first done in 2006 and repeated in 2012.
The Bluejays have now been ranked in 79 all-time polls. CU's all-time best ranking in program history is No. 7, which came in the poll released on Aug. 28, 2017. Creighton is 123-32 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll. This is the 10th straight season that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top-25, extending another program record. This is the program's best ranking since being No. 14 on Jan. 26, 2021.
Creighton's BIG EAST rival, Marquette, is still receiving votes after losing to No. 8 Kentucky and No. 2 Wisconsin last week to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Creighton closes non-conference play with three matches this weekend in Wichita, Kan., at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. The Bluejays meet Wyoming on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before squaring off against both South Dakota (12 p.m.) and tournament host Wichita State (7:00 p.m.) on Saturday.
