Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Play At Bulldog Invite

DES MOINES, Iowa – The Creighton men's tennis team wrapped up play with four singles victories at the Bulldog Invite on Sunday afternoon inside the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.

Shin Inoue, Oscar Alvarez, Kirtan Patel and Zachary Kuo each claimed consolation victories on Sunday afternoon. Inoue, Patel and Kuo claimed straight-sets victories, while Alvarez won a third-set tiebreaker.

Alvarez dropped his first set of the day before coming back to win the second set 6-1. He then outlasted Omaha's Davis Lawley in the third set, 10-8, claiming the three-set victory. Patel made quick work of his opponent with a 6-4, 6-2 straight-sets win, while Kuo claimed a 6-3, 6-3. Inoue closed out the weekend for the Bluejays with a 7-5, 6-4 straight-sets win over Drake's Will Blevins.

Matthew Lanahan, Zack Maline and Alejandro Gandini also played a consolation match on Sunday but fell in their matches.

"For the most part we competed well this weekend," said head coach Tom Lilly. "We will need to make that a full team effort to get this team where we want to be in the spring."

The Bluejays return to the courts on Thursday, Oct. 13 when they travel to Arkansas for the ITA Regional.
