Wait & Sis Earn AVCA All-America Honors

OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball sophomores Norah Sis and Kendra Wait were recognized as Honorable Mention All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

One year after Sis (Third Team) and Wait (Honorable Mention) made Creighton the only school with multiple freshmen honored, the Bluejays are the only team with multiple sophomores recognized as an All-American. The Bluejay duo join Jaali Winters as Creighton Volleyball's only women named All-American as both a freshman and sophomore.

This year marks the 11th straight season that Creighton has had at least one All-American, with multiple All-Americans in seven of the past eight campaigns.

A sophomore from Gardner, Kan., Wait led the BIG EAST with 11.13 assists per set, good for 13th-best nationally. Directing an offense that ranks seventh nationally in kills per set, she's the nation's only player to average at least 11.00 assists and 3.00 digs per set. Wait is a two-time All-BIG EAST, All-East Region and All-America choice. She was named All-Tournament Team at three different events this fall.

A Third Team All-American in 2021, Sis was also recognized as an All-American choice for the second straight year. The Papillion, Neb., product was named BIG EAST Player of the Year, BIG EAST Tournament MVP and Rumble in the Rockies MVP during a standout sophomore campaign that has her ranked 21st nationally with 4.33 kills per set.

Creighton now owns 27 all-time AVCA All-America accolades in program history, which have been earned by 15 different women.

Creighton finished the its season on Dec. 2 with a 27-5 overall record after making its 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays won their ninth straight BIG EAST regular-season title while also capturing their eighth league tournament title in the past nine campaigns.

Each of the three AVCA All-America Teams is comprised of 14 athletes. The Division I AVCA National Player of the Year will be announced on Friday at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet. The AVCA selected just 53 student-athletes as AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
